Indonesia 2020

Our trip to South Halmahera was our first visit to Indonesia, and it was an incredible experience. The island’s wild and untouched nature, with only one other village on the opposite side, made it a unique destination. Despite the remote location, the resort we stayed at was fantastic, providing a comfortable base for our adventures.

After a long journey, we took a day off before starting our diving explorations. Even on our day off, there was much to discover as the resort was adjacent to a rainforest. The diving itself was amazing, with numerous untouched dive spots to explore. The house reef was a highlight, offering a rich variety of marine life that made each dive worthwhile. We were even fortunate enough to snorkel with a dolphin on one occasion and witness the famous walking shark during sunset.

Unfortunately, our diving had to be cut short after seven days due to both of us contracting ear infections. However, we still enjoyed snorkeling, and the pool and spa facilities at Salybay resort provided relaxation and comfort. Despite the setback, it was an exciting trip that left us eager to return again in the future.
